Slip-ups

However Road to Avonlea is a really demanding series, a professional work, there are some little mistakes, slip-ups in it. You can find these slip-ups on this page. If you find a new one, please send it to me, and I will put any new mistake onto this page. (Since I have most of the episodes in Hungarian language only, some of the slip-ups may originate from mistranslation... If you find such a mistake, please also inform me .) I say a big thank you for those people who have sent me slip-ups already.

  1. The Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's

    Felix without a hat Sara and the King children are going to Alexander Abraham's house in order to warn Jimmy Spencer about Rachel Lynde. In a nearer scene in which the children's face can be seen clearly, it is obvious that Felix is not wearing a hat.

    A hat is on his head Later in a farther scene, in which maybe the children were actually stand-ins since the sea can be seen afar, a hat is on Felix's head.

    He is bareheaded And when they arrive at Alexander Abraham's house, Felix is bareheaded again. In fact, Felix doesn't have a hat or anything in his hand when he is bareheaded.

  2. Old Lady Lloyd

    Janet and Alec are going to Charlottetown, so they send their children to Hetty to take care about them. Thus the children have dinner and stay overnight in Rose Cottage also. It is dentoted by Jante's words to Cecily when she warns her not to forget to make the beds in the morning and by Hetty's words when she sends Felix to bed without having any dinner after the boy's frolickings. The question is how 7-8 people (Aunt Hetty, Olivia, Sara, Cecily, Felicity, Felix, Andrew, Sylvia) could fit in Rose Cottage, whereas there was no room for Nanny Louisa before...

  3. Olivia, Sylvia and Sara are going to Lady Lloyd to visit her. When they are riding along the shore, some little, but fast, dark thing glides along the other shore of the water. Is is definitely a car... It is hard to notice it in the pictures below but you can see it well in the videoclip.

  4. Sara's Homecoming

    Sara leaves a track by slipping her clothes (including her blues satin slippers) through a hole in the circus wagon. Alec finds one of the shoes, picks it up, but when finds the other one, he does not handle it, just rides forward. Later we can see Sara wearing both of the satin slippers...

  5. How Kissing Was Discovered

    Felicity alters her dress for the dance.

  6. Aunt Hetty's Ordeal

    Gus Pike went to school without shoes, barefooted on the first day. You can make sure of this thing many times.

    However when he said goodbye to Hetty, and dashed away across the fields, he wore shoes... It's interesting...

  7. Old Quarrels, Old Love

    A scene from the series Romney Penhallow comes back to Avonlea after more than 30 years. Although he knew Clara Potts and Rachel Lynde from their childhood (when they were not married), and he has not meet them since then, he greets them on their husbands' name instead of their maiden name... How does he know their husbands' name...?

  8. May the Best Man Win

    Sara and Jasper are walking in the village. We can see some electric pylon along the road...

    In this time electricity was not known in Avonlea. Jasper showed it in the last episode of the 4 season, in Heart and home only. Those pylons could not been phone posts, because phone arrived in Avonlea later than electricity. It seems creators forgot "natural sets" when they shot this scene... :-)

  9. But When She Was Bad... She Was Horrid II.

    Jo Pitts is having breakfast. She drinks the milk from the glass almost completely, but on the next few shots there is lots of milk in the glass again...

  10. A scene from the series At the end of this episode Sara and Hetty went to the general store to bring back Sara's new clothes. In the last few seconds we could see the general store from outside from afar, and who were next to the store...? Sara and the other children (Felix, Felicity etc.) These pictures were from the beginning of the 2. episode (The story girl earns her name)...

  11. Aunt Janet Rebels

    A scene from the series Janet made a speech at the cannery, but she was bundled out. She went back to Hetty's house. A little time later two workwomen came from the cannery and they told Janet that workers would be on strike the next day in token of their indignation. Janet said, she would not be out of this strike. She took her coat and went to the cannery with Maud Craig and the two workwomen.

    It is interesting... It was told the strike would be on the next day...

  12. After the Honeymoon

    A scene from the series Jasper explains discovery of ultrasound and its places of utilization to Sidney Calver:
    Bats orientate themselves as... with sound reflection. You know, if we learn how the bats do this, we could imitate them. For example ships... aeroplanes... they can go on bravely by night too...

    Flying was discovered in 1903, and now it is 1906. This technology is in its infancy. It developed greatly after the first world war. I cannot imagine that flying by night was a real subject in 1906. It was a success if a plane could fly by daylight... :-)

  13. High Society

    A scene from the series Felicity borrows several dresses from Sara, including a blue one with white ruffles.

    One the one hand she has worn this dress earlier in the previous season, in episode A mother's love, on the other hand she does not give back to Sara this dress, but wears in the next episodes, for example in The dinner.

  14. The Lady and the Blade

    Hetty rags the class about its misbehaviour. The camera shows the class from the front, and we can see that there is no desk in front of Sally Potts, her hands are on her lap...

  15. Evelyn

    A scene from the series Gus is reading a book in the lighthouse, but when Felicity run out, he lays down the book...

  16. A scene from the series Janet gives Evelyn some old babyclothes. She says this sentence about a piece of clothes: This was fit for my sister's daughter when she was one year old...
    Aunt Abigail has a son, his name is Lucky...

    (I have NOT got the original English version of this episode... I've just translated it from Hungarian to English. It may be a bad English-Hungarian translation...)

  17. Memento Mori

    Aunt Hetty is waiting for the train at the station in Springdale. We can see the station from outside for a few seconds... And what we can see...? Sara and Nanny Louise is sitting in front of the station and waiting... It seems creators cut in a few shots from the very first episode.

  18. Strictly Melodrama

    A scene from the series In the ending scene we can see Cecily during celebrating Janet... although she has gone to sanatorium the episode before (Thursday child)...
    (Probably the (Sullivan-)order of the episodes is not correct...)

     

  19. Christmas in June

    A scene from the series Cecily has a medal, which was a girl's, who was recovered and went home from the sanatorium. Louie steals it from Cecily.

  20. Homecoming

    A scene from the series Cecily is allowed to go home. Before going home she ties back her mascot medallion to her bed. She says to Janet that she got this medallion from a girl, who recovered and was allowed to go home too.

  21. Total Eclipse

    Beholders of the eclipse are watching the eclipse without any protective equipment during the beginning. They are observing the Sun with telescope too...

    However during totality (when the Sun's disk covered by the Moon) they are using Jasper's construction after Professor Rizelli's notice...

    In the real life the opposite action is suggested!!! Until totality one is allowed to look into the Sun solely through some goggles which can protect eyes! However during few minutes of totality it is allowed to observe the Sun without goggles, because it is covered by the Moon. The diamond ring effect and the solar corona is better perceptible to the naked eye.

  22. Return to Me

    A scene from the series There is a scene where we can see the hotel from afar. Felicity and Gus are sitting in a swing-bed in front of the hotel. They are really sitting together there at the end of the episode, but we can watch this scene earlier also, when Felicity is alone actually...

  23. The Last Hurrah

    A scene from the series Alec is repairing the steam-engine of the cannery, because it failed, so it can not move lobster-baskets. He hasn't succeeded yet, but Olivia asks him to try it again.

    Afterwards Alec is repairing the steam-engine again... and they are very pleased when he can start it finally...

    There is only one steam-engine with only one lobster-basket line in the cannery... If it worked once, why did he have to repair it again...?

  24. So Dear to My Heart

    A scene from the series Felicity sits up at Gus' bed after his eye-surgery, and she talks about their first encounter:
    - From that minute, when I first saw you, nobody else existed for me. Do you remember? You rushed among us into the school... barefooted... that awful pipe was in your mouth...

    Felicity talks about Aunt Hetty's ordeal, although she met Gus earlier, in the episode called How kissing was discovered...

  25. The Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's

    A scene from the series There is another car slip-up in the series. Around the 21st minute Marialla is riding to Alexander Abraham's house, she's riding on a path, we can see her from behind. In the distance a car is moving on from left to right. It's not easy to notice because its color melts into the background, but an observant can find it.
